BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP) — Three women have been arrested after police say they vandalized the office sign of the Minnesota dentist who killed Cecil the lion.

Bloomington Police Deputy Chief Mike Hartley tells WCCO-TV (http://cbsloc.al/1O67pZB ) the women face possible felony charges for allegedly spray painting the sign at Walter Palmer's suburban Minneapolis dental office.

Police were called about 7:30 a.m. Monday after a witness reported the sign had been spray painted. Officers arrived and found three women matching the witness' description of the suspects standing near the sign.

Two women from Florida and a Bloomington woman were booked into Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of damaging property.

Palmer returned to work Sept. 8, weeks after his killing of the lion in Zimbabwe sparked a global backlash. He has defended the kill as legal.
