Police were called about 7:30 a.m. Monday after a witness reported the sign had been spray painted. Officers arrived and found three women matching the witness' description of the suspects standing near the sign.
Two women from Florida and a Bloomington woman were booked into Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of damaging property.
Palmer returned to work Sept. 8, weeks after his killing of the lion in Zimbabwe sparked a global backlash. He has defended the kill as legal.
