LAS VEGAS (AP) — A jury in Las Vegas found a Nevada ex-convict guilty of murder and conspiracy in the shooting death of his girlfriend's husband, a U.S. Air Force service member and Iraq War veteran from Guam.
Michael Rudolph Rodriguez showed no emotion as the verdicts were read Friday in Clark County District Court.
The jury immediately began a separate proceeding to decide if he's also guilty of being an ex-felon in possession of a weapon.
The six men and six women are due to decide Tuesday whether 36-year-old Rodriguez should be put to death for the December 2010 shooting death of Staff Sgt. Nathan Paet.
Paet's wife, Michelle Paet, is due for trial next month.
She's accused of planning with Rodriguez to kill her husband to collect some $650,000 in life insurance.
