COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Four African lion cubs born last month have made their first public appearance in the lion yard at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in central Ohio.
The zoo says the cubs that made their debut Wednesday were the first of two litters born there last month. The cubs took their first public romp through the yard without their parents but with the help of zookeepers to ensure they understood how to get in and out.
The four cubs were born to second-time mother Asali.
Her half-sister Kazi gave birth days later to three cubs, but only two survived. Those cubs aren't on exhibit yet.
Both mothers mated with a male lion named Tomo.
