MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Ida doesn't currently pose any threat to land as it drifts slowly over the Atlantic.
The storm's maximum sustained winds Tuesday night were 40 mph (65 kph). The National Hurricane Center in Miami says little change in that strength is expected over the next 48 hours.
Ida is centered about 1,075 miles (1,730 kilometers) east-northeast of the northern Leeward Islands and has slowed slightly, moving east-southeast around 2 mph (4 kph).
Forecasters expect it to move in the same general direction through Wednesday, with a turn to the northeast and then north-northeast likely on Thursday.
