ATLANTA (AP) — Police say a Georgia woman is charged with reckless conduct after leaving her 2-year-old girl unattended in a parked car.
Atlanta police Sgt. Greg Lyon says a security guard at a shopping center found the child sweating profusely in an unattended car with the windows rolled up Monday.
Lyon says the guard broke the window, pulled the girl out and called 911.
Police say Tamisha Upshaw, the girl's 37-year-old mother, returned as the girl was being rescued. Lyon says the woman had been inside a nearby grocery store for about an hour.
Lyon says Upshaw is charged with reckless conduct and was being taken to the Fulton County jail. It's unclear if she has a lawyer.
Police say the girl was alert, conscious and breathing when she was found.
