COLUMBIA, Ky. (AP) — The latest on the oil spill along the Mississippi River that caused a section of the waterway to be shut down (all times local):
A collision between two tow boats that caused an oil spill on the Mississippi River has not affected service at a port in Kentucky near the accident site.
Keleia McCloud, assistant port director, said Hickman's port and ferry services are operating normally. Hickman is about 17 miles south of the site of the crash that occurred near Columbia, Kentucky.
Hickman County official Kenny Wilson says no municipalities in the county have experienced disruptions from the spill. The water supply in Columbus is not affected because it comes from wells.
