'Straight Outta Compton' scores 2nd weekend atop box office

LOS ANGELES (AP) — "Straight Outta Compton" is the No. 1 movie in North America for the second week straight.

Universal's biopic of rap group N.W.A. added $26.3 million to its coffers over the weekend, according to studio figures released Monday. The film about the early days of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy-E has collected $111 million in ticket sales to date.

In its fourth week of release, "Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation" held onto second place with $11.4 million.

The week's three new releases — all violent, R-rated, poorly reviewed options — divided up a similar audience. The box office was down 7.5 percent from the same weekend last year, according to box-office data firm Rentrak.

Faring best of the three was Focus Features' horror flick "Sinister 2," with $10.5 million. "Hitman: Agent 47," a shoot-'em-up action movie from Fox based on a video game, debuted in fourth place. Lionsgate's action-stoner adventure "American Ultra" opened with $5.4 million.
