AIKEN, S.C. (AP) — A nuclear processing site in South Carolina is reporting a "security event" that has triggered an emergency response and closed the site to incoming traffic.

A news release from the Savannah River Site in Aiken did not elaborate on what kind of security issue had occurred in a statement Monday, but said there's no indication it is having any effects beyond the site's boundaries.

Calling it "a potential security event," the news release says that "site barricades are currently closed to incoming traffic."

The Aiken Standard is reporting that the area in which the event is taking place is where employees work with enriched uranium.
