MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A Memphis woman who was sentenced in the stabbing death of her mother has declined parole.
The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/1hzvtGs ) reports Noura Jackson told the parole board Monday that she planned to serve the rest of her sentence. She's due to be released in March 2017.
Board of Parole representative Melissa McDonald says the board ruled Jackson wouldn't be eligible for parole again for the remainder of her sentence.
Jackson was originally convicted in the 2005 death of Jennifer Jackson and sentenced to more than 20 years in prison. Last year, the Tennessee Supreme Court ordered a new trial, citing two constitutional errors made by the lead prosecutor.
In May, Jackson entered a plea and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
