SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi says he now has a valid driver's license.
Mirkarimi says he called the state Department of Motor Vehicles on Tuesday and resolved the matter regarding his suspended driver's license.
A spokeswoman said earlier Mirkarimi had been unknowingly driving with a suspended license since February after failing to properly report a minor car accident to the DMV.
Kenya Briggs says Mirkarimi and his personal insurance provider were not notified by the DMV about the license suspension.
Mirkarimi was involved in the non-injury accident on Oct. 2. There was no damage to his city-owned car, but the other vehicle was damaged.
A statement from Mirkarimi's office says there was no city insurance information in the car and he exchanged personal insurance information with the other driver.
