CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — A judge has scheduled an Aug. 25 hearing for a central Arkansas teenager arrested in connection with his grandparents' deaths.
Prosecutors asked for four additional weeks during a status hearing Monday to receive and review the complete investigative file before making a decision about which charges the 14-year-old should face. Faulkner County Prosecuting Attorney Cody Hiland says more interviews need to be conducted, along with additional information from the state crime lab.
Conway police say they questioned several family members after discovering the bodies of Robert and Patricia Cogdell, both 66. They were the 14-year-old's legal guardians.
Authorities say three other teenagers, who were arrested in Texas and held as runaways on July 24, are being questioned in the slayings. No charges have been filed against any of the teens.
