DAVENPORT, Wash. (AP) — The Washington State Patrol says four people have died in a truck-car crash on Highway 2 in the eastern part of the state.

Trooper Jeff Sevigney told The Spokesman-Review newspaper of Spokane (http://is.gd/fJXRUi) the crash happened around 6 p.m. Wednesday, 13 miles west of Davenport in Lincoln County. All four people in the car died at the scene.

Sevigney says it appears the westbound passenger car crossed the center lane and hit the truck head on. The driver of the semi was not injured but was taken to Lincoln Hospital in Davenport as a precaution.

The accident closed the roadway for several hours and traffic was detoured onto Miles Creston Road and Highway 25.
