ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Police say an officer pepper-sprayed an airline passenger who refused to comply with instructions to get off the plane for arguing about whether his oversized bag needed to be checked.
Calvin Liu was arrested Monday night on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting with violence.
According to a police report, an officer was called to the Delta plane parked at an Orlando International Airport gate after Liu refused to comply with a flight attendant's command to exit the plane.
The report says they had argued about whether his bag needed to be checked.
Officer Ismael Hernandez says he led Liu into the jet way, but Liu continued to struggle with him.
Hernandez says he gave Liu a one-second shot of pepper spray.
It wasn't immediately known whether Liu had a lawyer to contact for comment on the case.
