NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks are opening slightly higher following some earnings gains at big U.S. companies.
Investment bank Morgan Stanley and oil company Halliburton were up sharply in early trading Monday after posting earnings that were well ahead of what analysts were expecting.
European markets rose after Greek banks opened their doors for the first time in more than three weeks.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up nine points, or 0.1 percent, at 18,096.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index was flat at 2,126. The Nasdaq climbed a point percent, to 5,212.
Bond prices fell. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose to 2.38 percent.
