DETROIT (AP) — A man has been ordered to stand trial in the deaths of two Detroit children during a high-speed chase with police.
A preliminary examination was held Monday for 29-year-old Lorenzo Harris.
Harris is charged with second-degree murder, fleeing police and other crimes. A July 20 court arraignment was scheduled.
A 6-year-old boy and his 3-year-old sister were hit by a Chevrolet Camaro while playing June 24. Three other children and a woman were hurt when the car hit a porch.
Police say the chase started after an officer saw someone in the Camaro with a gun. They say the car driven by Harris reached an average speed of 95 mph.
Chief James Craig has said the department is investigating whether proper chase protocols were followed.
