PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A helicopter flight instructor and a student pilot have died after crashing into a farm field near Newberg.
The Oregonian reports (http://bit.ly/1KyySBf ) that Sgt. Chris Ray, a Yamhill County Sheriff's Office spokesman, says the helicopter crashed Wednesday night. The victims hadn't been identified as of Thursday.
The crash site is about a mile from the Chehalem Airpark, the home of Precision Aviation Training. The instructor had been employed by the flight school.
A Precision manager posted on the company's Facebook page saying the accident had occurred during a routine training session.
Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
