TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Ohio's funeral directors board has suspended the license of a funeral home where 11 bodies intended for cremation were found in a damp room.

The Ohio's Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors on Tuesday quickly suspended the license for Tate Funeral Services in Toledo and its director.

The Lucas County coroner's office says the bodies of 10 adults and a premature infant were removed Friday. Officials say they were stored in cremation boxes and body bags, and at least one had been there since January.

The funeral home maintains that it provided embalming in accordance with state law. Its attorney says any delays in cremation were because doctors didn't hand over death certificates in a timely manner.
