PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Federal authorities say threats against several commercial airline flights do not appear to be credible.
One of the threats Tuesday claimed multiple explosive devices were planted on US Airways Flight 648 from San Diego to Philadelphia.
The Airbus A320 carrying 88 passengers and 5 crew members was held on a taxiway after landing safely around 6:15 a.m. at Philadelphia International Airport.
Federal authorities would not identify the other flights involved.
The FBI says K-9 units and a bomb squad searched Flight 648 out of an abundance of caution. The incident did not affect airport operations.
A federal law enforcement official says they take any threat to aviation seriously and will work with prosecutors to identify and charge the responsible parties.
