Air improves after California wildfire partially contained

CORONA, Calif. (AP) — Air quality authorities in Southern California say improved weather conditions have decreased smoke from a wildfire that forced the evacuation of 300 homes over the weekend.

But officials note that there could still be heavy smoke at times Monday.

The fire erupted Saturday and spread across more than a thousand acres in thick vegetation in the Prado Dam Flood Control Basin 40 miles southeast of Los Angeles.

Officials say the fire is just partially contained, but all evacuation orders and road closures have been lifted. No damage or injuries have been reported.

Authorities say an unattended cooking fire sparked the blaze.
