CINCINNATI (AP) — An arrest warrant for a woman accused of deliberately making her 9-year-old son sick by contaminating his IV with fecal matter at a Cincinnati hospital has been withdrawn after she showed up in court.
A Hamilton County judge in Cincinnati issued the warrant Thursday after 35-year-old Candida Fluty (kan-DEE'-dah FLOO'-tee), of Kermit, West Virginia, failed to attend a scheduled hearing. She is charged with felonious assault and child endangering. Authorities say fecal matter put in the boy's IV caused his fever to spike.
A court official says Fluty came to court Friday and told the judge she mistakenly thought she was to be at a West Virginia court hearing Thursday. The judge withdrew the warrant, setting a new hearing for April 29.
A message was left Friday for Fluty's attorney.
