NEW YORK (AP) — New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced the programming for The Met Breuer, a contemporary art outpost that formerly housed the Whitney Museum of American Art.

The Met Breuer will open in March 2016. It's named for the Brutalist concrete building designed by Marcel Breuer on East 75th Street.

The museum will occupy the facility for eight years while it redesigns its southwest wing.

The inaugural shows will include an exhibition of works by Indian modernist Nasreen Mohamedi. The 2016 season also will feature a retrospective of the painter Kerry James Marshall known for his images of black identity and an exhibition of early photos by Diane Arbus.

The Whitney's new home in Lower Manhattan opens May 1.
