U.S. stock indexes closed with slight losses Monday following a strong performance last week.
Six of 10 sectors in the Standard & Poor's 500 index fell. Industrial stocks slid the most.
The Dow Jones industrial average lost 11.61 points, or 0.1 percent, to 18,116.04.
The S&P 500 fell 3.68 points, or 0.2 percent, to close at 2,104.42.
The Nasdaq composite slipped 15.44 points, or 0.3 percent, to 5,010.97.
For the year:
The Dow is up 292.97 points, or 1.6 percent.
The S&P 500 index is up 45.52 points, or 2.2 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 274.92 points, or 5.8 percent.
