A pizza outing ended with a family torn apart when a car plowed into a wagon-toting man and his two 13-month-old grandchildren, killing them along a Kentucky road with no sidewalks.
Two other family members were hurt in the Sunday crash in Florence, in northern Kentucky.
Pam Perez called the scene horrific and says her daughter administered CPR on the toddlers. The children's grandfather was dead in the ditch of the two-lane road.
Police say no charges have been filed against the driver of the car that hit the family, but the investigation is continuing. Police say the vehicle veered off the road and struck the family as they walked on the road's shoulder.
The tragedy has prompted officials to look for ways to improve pedestrian safety.
