NEW YORK (AP) — Questions about local geography are taking a back seat on the exam drivers must take to operate a New York City yellow cab.
The Taxi and Limousine Commission says GPS technology has a lot to do with the change.
The agency says the new exam can now cover more safety issues.
According to The New York Times (http://nyti.ms/1EuCT6P ) , spokesman Allan Fromberg calls it a "catching up to the times."
Only 10 geography questions remain. They have to do with navigating the city with a map.
