US stocks ease in early trading, Nasdaq below 5,000 points

NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks are opening slightly lower, pulling the Nasdaq composite back below 5,000 points.

Offshore drilling company Nabors sank 1.5 percent in early trading Tuesday after reporting earnings and revenue that fell well short of what analysts were looking for.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 41 points, or 0.2 percent, to 18,248 as of 9:35 a.m. Eastern time.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index gave up four points, or 0.2 percent, to 2,112.

The Nasdaq composite lost 12 points, or 0.3 percent, to 4,995. The Nasdaq closed above 5,000 Monday for the first time in 15 years.

Best Buy gained 1 percent after the electronics retailer said it would raise its dividend 21 percent and give shareholders an additional one-time payment.
