AKRON, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio coroner says the 60-year-old man killed in a machine shop accident in Akron died of a crushing injury to his torso.
The Summit County coroner's office has identified the victim as 60-year-old William Haring and has ruled the death an accident. Police say Haring lived in the Akron suburb of Green.
The accident occurred sometime between 10 a.m. Friday and 4:45 a.m. Saturday. That's when co-workers found Haring beneath a heavy metal frame. A co-worker told a 911 dispatcher that the frame weighs 16,000 pounds.
Haring was killed at Logan Machine Co. The Akron Beacon Journal reports that Haring was a foreman and had been employed there for 38 years.
No one answered the phone at the company on Sunday.
