In this photo by Rajesh Kumar Singh, a Hindu woman prays to the sun god after taking a holy dip at the Sangam, the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati rivers during the annual Magh Mela festival in Allahabad, India, on Monday. Hundreds of thousands of devout Hindus are expected to take holy dips at the rivers' confluence during the 45-day celebration. Tuesday is Mauni Amavasya, an auspicious bathing day because it falls on the new moon. Many of the bathers wore warm clothing as minimum temperatures dropped to about 9 Celsius (48 Fahrenheit). The cold wave contributed to fog in other places in India, including the capital, New Delhi, and caused transportation delays.
