The upcoming Hindu festival of Makar Sakranti, also known as the kite festival, marks the transition from winter to spring in India, and kites are flown in celebration. Mehmod Khubhanbhai Patangwala, secretary of the kite sellers and owners association in Vadodara, told the Press Trust of India that kites with the Modi-Obama imagery are especially popular this year. Obama is scheduled to visit India and participate in its Republic Day ceremonies on Jan. 26. Modi has invited Obama to be the "chief guest" at the celebration, the first sitting American president to be so honored.
