ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A jury has returned multiple guilty verdicts against a Florida man accused of triggering a car crash that sent a vehicle spinning into a daycare center where a girl was killed and more than a dozen people were injured.
The Orlando jury Monday night convicted 29-year-old Robert Corchado of five felonies and two misdemeanors. The charges included leaving the scene of an accident with death and injuries, as well as drug offenses. He will be sentenced in January.
Another driver, Albert Campbell, was in a Toyota Solara preparing to turn right into the private drive of a KinderCare in April when a Dodge Durango driven by Corchado rear-ended the car, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The impact propelled the Solara into the day care building. Campbell was not charged.
