SANFORD, Fla. (AP) — A central Florida father and four kids are thankful they didn't have to spend a cold night in a state forest after getting lost while biking.

Thirteen-year-old Christine Mills told WKMG (http://bit.ly/1zZnPbX ) that she was riding trails in Little Big Econ State Forest with her two siblings and an 11-year-old girl on Wednesday when they were forced off the path by flood waters from recent rains.

They called their father, firefighter Buddy Mills, who came to get them. But with darkness closing in, he realized they would need help.

They called Seminole County firefighters, who used a bulldozer to make their own two-mile trail to find the family. They were able to bring them to safety on ATVs late Wednesday.
