US stocks move lower ahead of Fed minutes

U.S. stock indexes are edging lower in midday trading a day after closing at record highs.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell six points, or 0.3 percent, to 2,045 as of 11:55 a.m. Wednesday.

The Dow Jones industrial average lost 19 points, or 0.1 percent, to 17,668. The Nasdaq composite fell 30 points, or 0.6 percent, to 4,672.

Later Wednesday, investors will look over minutes from the U.S. Federal Reserve's last policy meeting.

Biopharmaceutical company Mallinckrodt fell 5 percent, the most in the S&P 500 index.

The price of crude oil rose 56 cents to $75.20 a barrel in New York.

Bond prices fell. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose to 2.35 percent.
