NEW YORK (AP) — Two men have been convicted of killing a woman who was shot through a door at a New York City birthday party.
Oneil Mairs and Nicholas Allen were convicted Friday of manslaughter.
Queens District Attorney Richard Brown says "a festive occasion turned deadly" after Mairs slapped his girlfriend at the February 2011 party. Prosecutors say Mairs and Allen were kicked out and banged and pushed on the door.
Gunfire erupted moments later and pierced the door, killing 26-year-old Avalisa Morris.
Allen's defense said he wasn't there when the shooting happened. His lawyer says he plans to appeal.
Mairs' lawyer hasn't returned a call seeking comment.
Mairs and Allen are in their 20s. They each face up to 15 years in prison. Their sentencing is set for Dec. 16.
