Image of Asia: Marking graves of typhoon victims

In this photo by Bullit Marquez, workers erect wooden crosses at a mass grave for Typhoon Haiyan victims in preparation for the observance of its anniversary in the outskirts of Tacloban, Philippines. The typhoon ravaged Leyte, Eastern Samar and other provinces in the central Philippines and left more than 6,300 people dead and 1,000 missing. One mass grave in Tacloban has more than 2,000 mostly unidentified bodies. Other mass graves containing typhoon victims are in nearby Palo and Tanauan townships.
