ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — Four buildings in Atlantic City will be demolished after they were severely damaged by a wind-blown fire that broke out just steps from the resort's boardwalk.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, which started late Tuesday night and continued to smolder for most of Wednesday. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Seventeen people, including six children, were displaced by the blaze. They were receiving assistance from the Red Cross.

Fire Chief Dennis Brooks says the fire started inside a consignment shop on Atlantic Avenue. He said the blaze soon spread to several other buildings.

The buildings were deemed an imminent hazard by city officials, who say the demolition work will take place once the fire department has completed its investigation into the blaze.
