SANFORD, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in central Florida say they've evacuated at least eight elementary schools following bomb threats.
A sheriff's office news release says the agency and Seminole County Public Schools received multiple calls around 1:30 p.m. Monday regarding bombs at the schools. Investigators were working to determine the source of the call.
Officials say law enforcement was on scene at every public elementary school in the county. Schools evacuated by law enforcement include Casselberry Elementary, Winter Springs Elementary, Lawton Elementary, English Estates Elementary, Red Bug Elementary, Lake Orienta Elementary, Forest City Elementary and Spring Lake Elementary.
The county operates 9 high schools, 12 middle schools, and 36 elementary schools. Authorities say many elementary schools have already been searched and cleared.
