SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent accused of slamming a man's face into a concrete floor has pleaded not guilty.
Online court records show Jon Martinson Jr. entered his plea Wednesday in federal court in Salt Lake City.
Martinson is accused of violating federal laws and constitutional rights that forbid the use of unreasonable force by law enforcement officers.
ICE is responsible for removing immigrants who are in the country illegally, but the indictment does not detail the man's immigration status in July 2013, when the incident occurred.
The man whose face was slammed into the floor is only identified by his initials in the indictment.
A jury trial has been set for Oct. 6.
