NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Louisiana State Police say the bomb threat that shut down the University of Louisiana at Lafayette for a day was a hoax.
Authorities say no explosives were found.
Master Trooper Brooks David (DAH-veed) says a device found in a small park near the university had been made to look like a bomb. It was found after a man called in threats to police and a TV station about 5:35 a.m. Wednesday.
He says university or campus police thought they might have found a second device, but turned out not to have done so.
The FBI set up a hotline for anyone with information about whoever made the calls. It's 1-800-CALL FBI.
