NEW YORK (AP) — A man has been arrested near the George Washington Bridge after an alleged crime spree that began in Pennsylvania.
Transit authority police say they arrested 32-year-old Luis Figueroa, of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, and the Bronx on Friday.
Spokesman Joe Pentangelo says Figueroa was driving a white SUV when he struck a vehicle near a bridge toll plaza.
Figueroa continued across the bridge, then apparently tried to head back over the bridge and struck another vehicle. He was arrested as he tried to flee on foot.
Hazleton police Chief Frank DeAndrea says that earlier, Figueroa tried to abduct a woman who was eight months pregnant, then assaulted a national park employee in New Jersey and stole her vehicle. DeAndrea says Figueroa tried to trade that in at a dealership where he started a fire.
