Tropical depression in Pacific to strengthen

MIAMI (AP) — A tropical depression in the Pacific, south of Mexico, is expected to strengthen and become a tropical storm later in the day.

The depression's maximum sustained winds early Friday are near 35 mph (55 kph).

The depression is centered about 625 miles (1,005 kilometers) south-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico, and is moving west-northwest near 5 mph (7kph).
