MOAB, Utah (AP) — Authorities have identified a 35-year-old Moab man who died while attempting a parachute jump from a cliff in southeast Utah.
Grand County sheriff's officials say Kevin A. Morroun was killed Friday evening after jumping from an area known as "The Sweet Spot" above Mineral Canyon, about 40 miles west of Moab.
Deputies say the distance from the top of the cliff to the spot where Morroun's body was found was about 400 feet and the cliff face was extremely rocky.
The man was BASE jumping, which involves jumping with a parachute from buildings, bridges and other towering features.
Morroun's friends notified authorities about the accident.
