BALTIMORE (AP) — Authorities in Maryland have charged a Baltimore police officer with animal cruelty after they say he killed his girlfriend's puppy and texted her a photo of the dog's body.
Montgomery County police say 27-year-old Alec Eugene Taylor of Silver Spring surrendered Wednesday. He is charged with aggravated animal cruelty and abuse or neglect of an animal.
Police say Taylor's girlfriend called them last month and said Taylor had killed their 7-month-old puppy, Rocko. They say the girlfriend told them Taylor had texted her that the dog defecated on the carpet and he killed it. Police say Taylor texted her a photo of what appeared to be a dead dog.
A voicemail left with a number believed to be Taylor's was not returned.
Baltimore police say an administrative investigation is underway.
