WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania coroner says the death of a New York City college student during an apparent fraternity ritual was a homicide.
The Luzerne County coroner's office said Friday the Dec. 8 death of Chun "Michael" Deng was a homicide. It referred all other inquiries to police.
Monroe County District Attorney David Christine has said he plans to file criminal charges in the Baruch (buh-ROOK') College freshman's death.
About 30 Pi Delta Psi members spent that weekend at a home in Tunkhannock Township, Pa., about 100 miles west of New York City in the Pocono Mountains.
Authorities allege that Deng sustained a fatal brain injury during an initiation ritual in the snow with three other pledges.
Baruch representatives did not immediately respond to messages.
