Disappointing results from Amazon.com, MasterCard and Chevron combined with more trouble in overseas markets to push U.S. stocks lower Friday. The Dow Jones industrial average ended the month with its worst January performance since 2009.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 149.76 points, or 0.9 percent, to 15,698.85.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index dropped 11.60 points, or 0.7 percent, to close at 1,782.59.
The Nasdaq composite fell 19.25 points, or 0.5 percent, to 4,103.88.

The S&P 500 is up 7.70 points, or 0.4 percent.
The Nasdaq is down 24.29 points, or 0.6 percent.

The Dow is down 877.81 points, or 5.3 percent.

The Nasdaq is down 72.71 points, or 1.7 percent.
