MANALAPAN, N.J. (AP) — Officials are reviewing surveillance video to learn how a New Jersey man got stuck in a pipe at a water treatment plant.
United Water spokesman Rich Henning says the man broke into the plant that treats and pumps water for the township of Manalapan (muh-NAL'-uh-pan). Workers heard cries for help coming from a pipe around 7 a.m. Friday.
Sections of the pipe were removed and heat was pumped in, and the man was removed at a little before 11 a.m. and taken to a hospital.
Authorities tell The Asbury Park Press (http://on.app.com/1df6oGv) the man, 26-year-old Manalapan resident Asef Mohammad, has been charged with fourth-degree trespassing.
A United Water official says water quality at the plant was not affected.
