WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Former tennis star Jennifer Capriati won't have to face battery and stalking charges stemming from a 2013 confrontation with an ex-boyfriend.
A spokesman for the Palm Beach County state attorney's office said Monday that Capriati completed 30 hours of community service at a Tampa hospital and four hours of anger management counseling under a deferred prosecution agreement. The case was dropped Monday morning.
Capriati had been accused of punching former boyfriend Ivan Brannan at a gym last Valentine's Day and of stalking him for months before that.
The 37-year-old Capriati is an International Tennis Hall of Fame member who began her professional career at age 13. She was a gold medalist at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and also won the French and Australian opens.
