FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — A judge has ordered Massachusetts prosecutors to provide more detail about their allegations that the girlfriend of Aaron Hernandez lied to a grand jury that indicted him on a murder charge.
Shayanna Jenkins' attorney argued Wednesday in Fall River Superior Court that prosecutors should give her client more specifics about the basis for the perjury charge against her. Jenkins pleaded not guilty last month. She is free on personal recognizance.
Prosecutors allege Jenkins lied to the grand jury that indicted the former New England Patriot, including about disposing of evidence at his request.
Lead prosecutor William McCauley said Wednesday that most of Jenkins' testimony was "not credible."
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty in the killing of Odin Lloyd, a 27-year-old semi-pro football player who was dating Jenkins' sister.
