FORT KNOX, Ky. (AP) — A fire truck damaged in the Sept. 11 terrorist attack at the Pentagon is going on permanent display at Fort Knox in Kentucky.

The explosion from the commercial jetliner that struck the Pentagon melted a section of the truck and sent the three firefighters manning the vehicle scrambling for safety. The truck will be at the Gen. George S. Patton Museum and Center of Leadership.

Patton Museum Curator Nathan Jones says the truck will be part of a display highlighting leadership issues that arose from the attacks.

On Tuesday, the three firefighters saw the truck for the first time since the terror attacks.

Firefighter Mark Skipper says the men have formed a "special bond" over the past 12 years.
