TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Police in northern Ohio think they've found the remains of a toddler missing since June.
Investigators on Friday said a box removed from the rafters of a garage in Toledo contain the human remains of a young person.
Toledo Police Chief Derrick Diggs says the box was found Thursday at the house where 19-month-old Elaina Steinfurth was last seen three months ago. He says the property belongs to the boyfriend of the little girl's mother.
Both the mother and the boyfriend are in jail after being accused of obstructing justice during the investigation. No other charges have been filed.
An autopsy conducted Friday was inconclusive. The county coroner says DNA tests will be needed to determine the identity of the remains.
