MIAMI (AP) — Tropical Storm Lorena continues to move to the northwest in the Pacific, off the Mexico coast.
The U.S. Hurricane Center in Miami said Thursday evening that Lorena is located 110 miles (177 kilometers) west of Cabo Corrientes, Mexico. It has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (64 kph) and is moving at 12 mph (19 kph).
A tropical storm watch has been issued for Baja California Sur from Agua Blanca to Buenavista.
Some strengthening is possible over the next day or two, and forecasters say Lorena will be nearing the southern portion of Mexico's Baja California peninsula early Saturday.
The storm is expected to bring 3 to 5 inches of rain to the southwest coast of Mexico and the southern portion of the Baja California peninsula, with some areas potentially getting as much as 10 inches.
