MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — A teenage girl charged with the murder of her former best friend last summer will be tried as an adult in West Virginia.
Prosecutors on Wednesday transferred Shelia Eddy's case from juvenile to adult court in a closed-door hearing in Monongalia County Circuit Court.
Eddy is charged along with 16-year-old Rachel Shoaf of plotting to kill former classmate Skylar Neese last summer in the Pennsylvania woods.
Neese's father Dave says that he wishes Eddy would have pleaded guilty and spared him and his wife, Mary, the agony of a trial.
Shoaf already has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and is awaiting sentencing.
Skylar, a University High School honors student, slipped out the window of her ground-floor bedroom last July 6 and never came home.
